EDI 754: Routing Instructions

What is an EDI 754 - Routing Instructions?

The EDI 754 - Routing Instructions is a response to an EDI 753. The EDI 754 communicates routing instructions to a supplier for a specific shipment.

How is an EDI 754 - Routing Instructions used?

The EDI 754 - Routing Instructions transaction communicates approval for shipment and the necessary shipment information.. Once the buyer receives an EDI 753 (Request for Routing Instructions), they will reply with an EDI 754 back to the sender, outlining specific routing instructions. After the EDI 754 is received, a final EDI 856 (Advanced Shipping Notice) is created to eliminate the risk of a duplicate entry. In addition, the EDI 754 can be used to request an EDI 753.
